About Liverpool

The famous waterfront is a great place to start your magical mystery tour of this former European Capital of Culture. Within a one-mile sweep along the river Mersey you'll find more heritage, culture and entertainment opportunities than you can shake a stick at. The name Liverpool may mean 'muddy water', but the modern Mersey is anything but muddy, with the vibrant Albert Dock at the rejuvenated heart of the city's historic waterfront. Here, amongst the country's largest collection of Grade I listed buildings, you'll find a collection of museums, galleries and places to eat and drink, including Tate Liverpool, and of course; The Beatles Story. When it comes to food, tuck into a bowlful of Scouse, a traditional Liverpool stew of carrots and mutton.
