Few places on Earth offer such a wonderful opportunity to observe an intact island culture as Kiriwina does. The largest of the Trobriand Islands, AKA the 'Islands of Love', in Papua New Guinea's Milne Bay Province, this unspoilt paradise is home to one of the most colourful and fascinating communities on earth.

When you step ashore you'll be greeted by the Kiriwina's idyllic scenery and its beaming locals, who will welcome you into their villages and gladly show you around if you're keen to learn about their traditional lifestyle, which has been little affected by the outside world.

At Kaibola village, at the northern tip of the island, you'll find a stunning beach that's perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Ready for an adventure? Take the long walk to Kalopa Cave, near Matawa village, where a number of deep limestone caves hold burial artefacts and human skeletal remains. If that sounds a little spooky, simply enjoy the glorious island and perhaps a spot of fishing, bird watching or sun bathing.
